Hi, I am looking to buy an amphibious ATV and my research has lead me to the ARGO 8x8 750 HDi I am just wondering if any one has had any previous experiences with it? recommended?
Yes I had an AATV. I do not have enough space here to post all i would say.....
In Short.....
Good when new, not good as things begin to wear....they require a lot of maintenance.....I did all my own and I found it overwelming at times.....
They would go virtually anyplace, would out do any four wheeler if width is not an issue. They are wide, and even wider once tracks are put on. And those tracks are very expensive but worth every nickle, just do not use them on ice, you will find out how slippery ice really is. I had played with small car tire type studs and they worked pretty well but on the bottom edge of good. (google Grip studs for the ones I had used)
In winter very smooth ride and I had a speed of around 30mph without too much trouble.....swamps slowed me down but were also no trouble, deep water no trouble (just do not cross a river with current) that is very dangerous as the tires will not propell it against any current, even a tide is too much. They lose a lot of this also with tracks, in water with tracks on trails not too bad, but in open wtarer even a wind can push you backwards.....
With tracks in Summer just stumps could hang yoou up, must put track over stump, do not travel a stump under it, not a lot of clearance.
would I own another , nope.
Did I enjoy it while i had it, yes when it was working, it was terrible at keeping tires on the rims. It would break bead frequently and I had to put track back on on trail many times........etc etc etc
And very hard to get rid of

Waking up this morning is the most important thing I have done today!!!!!! All that follows that is merely bonus.
I do not know if they are still chain and sprockets but they are a nightmare when they start wearing.........Tensioners, chain, sprockets and a lot of time
