These would be OK cells. They are pre-tabbed, meaning the wire is already there and just need to be soldered to each other.
I had bought the broken cells, as I only wanted to test it. Don't waste your money on broken cells. Get the ones NOT BROKEN and ask the seller to give you a few extra pieces, as they are fragile..
With the ones Canadian Tire has when they are on sale, I figured i'd get those for now instead of wasting my time, but it's a good project if you have the time and patience.
GOOD LUCK.

I'm going to try to make a winter project. I know I'm not going to have the time this summer, but I'm going to start small and do some research and see what going to happen. That is why I wanted to see if anybody here has tried it in the past to get some insight.

There is a fella not far from my house that is almost off the grid, he's got solar panel and wind mill at his house. His shop is completely running on solar panels.

Your all set then if he is willing to share his ideas with you.
Just remember, it's not a cheap hobbie, but in a few years, you can save money here and there, depending on how you do it.
Don't do like a co-worker of mine, who started building his off the grid system, but decided to sell his Wood Stove for a Heat Pump and decided to upgrade his home theatre to the biggest he could afford and the new coffee makers that keep the water warm all day, waiting to make a coffee for you instantly.
to do it right, it's a lifestyle change. I change most aren't willing to do.
I have a energy wasting 9 year old plasma at home and if I was going to start going off the grid, that TV would be limited to watching a MOVIE only or special events and regular tv shows would have been on a smaller tv. Things like that.
Again GOOD LUCK and i'll dig out some old sites I have bookmarked somewheres.
