I find if i weld a flat washer to the bolt and then weld the nut to the washer you can get a stronger weld.

i've welded nuts on manifold studs for chevys and dodge and the heat from the mig is usually enough, never had to many problems breaking the weld

no surprise there,i've NEVER been able to get them to work.usually if the bolt breaks it's because it's seized in there and the extractor either breaks or just spins.
i'm no big fan of paying for repairs but sometimes it's worth it not to fawk things up,need a heli coil etc....
it might cost more in the long run to do it yourself,if a mechanic screws it up it's not your problem.lol

i might be inclined to try the washer/nut welding (maybe) depending on it's location, the extreme heat and nut head to grip onto,it might just turn right out.

I have done the' Mig thing alot with broken bolts that are still above the hole.
if you are going to try make shure the nut is the same grade (hardness)
so they melt together better.

I am not trying to be funny here, but I am just wondering if you used the extract kit properly.

Some think it’s just a matter of unscrewing the bolt with the flange bit. Did you use the flange bit to drill a hole in the bolt clockwise to provide a good grip for the auger bit, and then used the auger bit in counter-clockwise to unscrew the bolt.

I have never been denied a broken bolt with this kit yet, manifolds, engine supports, rusted muffler bolts.

I am surprise!!!
