Go to a good dealer, they'll tell you what you need for room
size, lighting, etc....
Got my 42" LCD Sony 14 months ago. Couldn't be happier.
Key things that should influence your buy:
Size of room
Lighting
Seating arrangement
Don't put a giant screen in a small room. No good at all.
Forget all that stuff about LCDs having a hard time kee[ing up
with fast acton. like sports. Not a worry whatsover,
If nothing else, avoid getting too big of a screen for the room,
I too had this question. But after lots of reading went with the
LCD because of day light and gaming. Games and Plasma
don't mix. TV sales guy says gaming is the #1 killer of plasma
screens.
wal-mart 50" LG plasma on sale $797----bought it and its awesome---also have a 42" LCD LG at home upstairs just as awesome

You can play games fine. Its the still picture that burns the
plasma. Unless they've changed the plasma technology to
correct this should still be an issue. I've even talked to Bell
Expressview techs that said that there first set tops that
had sleep mode didn't have scrolling screen saver use to
burn the plasma screens. Bell had to replace alot of sets
according to him.

Nah for the higher end makers, Burn in really hasnt been an issue for a few years. image shift, and other technologies developed by makers like Samsung and Sony have given plasmas about the same burn in rating as a crt. So its not a cause for concern anymore.
