The 750fi is junk. I had both the 650i new and the 750 fi new. I'd take the 650 over the 750 fi anyday. I had my 750fi stock (other than rims and tires) I had 3 motor jobs done in under 1500km. It ate fuel like a pig. I think I couldn't get 100km on a full tank no matter how I drove it. When it went in for it's 3rd motor job I got to talk to the Kawi rep for Atlantic Canada. He admitted to me that they screwed up on the 750fi engine and that the 650 was definitely the better of the two bikes. I was burning 1L of oil on a tank of fuel. My 650i had 6000km when I sold it. It didn't burn oil. I got somewhere around 150km on a tank of fuel. I had a CDI box on it and it topped out at about 120km/hr where the 750 took forever to hit 108km/hr. I probably could list more shit qualities about the 750fi, but I think that's enough for now.
Well mAtTy thanks for the info because I don't want a shit machine. I appreciated you letting me know. Nice to be able to come here and hear the truth about something when spending a lot of money. So the toss up is now between the Kawi 650i and the Outty 650 XT-p. I will let you guys know which I go with.

Now that's going to be a hard decision. I went through the same thing 3 years ago.
I was shopping the Outlander 500 vs the Kawi 650i since I found they matched up closer price and performance wise.
It was a hard decision but I ended up with the Outlander 500 for a 3 reasons.
First the bike was for my GF, so I figured that EFI would be easier for her. She wouldn't have to worry about the choke and feathering the throttle to keep the bike running when it was cold. With the Outlander, turn the key, hit the start button and she is good to go.
Second was the diff lock. The Outlander has the Visco Lock and the Kawi had the regular pull lever to engage the diff lock. Once again the Outlander was much easier to operate for my GF since it was all automatic, where the Kawi needed the user input to engage.
Third was the dealer factor. I didn't want to deal with the Kawi dealer in Fredericton and was sick of having to trailer my Kawi to a dealer that was 1 hour away and I had good past experiences with the Can-Am dealer in Fredericton. Unfortunately that turned out to be a non factor since the Can-Am dealer closed up 3 months after I bought the bike. Fortunately, the Outlander has only had to go to the dealer once in 9000km
Having said all that, if the bike would of been for me, I would of went with the Kawi 650i hands down. I don't mind the choke and don't mind the diff lock and there was quite a price difference between the 500 Outty and the 650i.
The 650i offers a lot of bike for the money and you will probably be able to get it all decked out and add 3 years warranty for cheaper then an Outlander 650 XT with 3 years warranty.
